North Sea Gas And Oil Projects Given A Glimmer Of Hope As Labour Begin U Turn As The Nation Turns On Net Zero Insanity

The pressure on labour grows as the public wake up to the insanity of Net Zero. Will any meaningful developments happen or are these latest announcements kicking the can further down the road?

Labour’s promised ban on new North Sea oil and gas licenses is buckling under relentless public pressure, fuelled by economic necessity and energy security fears. We’re winning the culture war. With over 200,000 jobs and billions in tax revenue at risk, the UK’s dependence on imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) has exposed the folly of Labour’s green posturing. The public are demanding affordable energy, forcing Labour into a humiliating U-turn. They’re now considering loopholes like “in-fill drilling” or expanding existing licenses to dodge their manifesto’s “no new fields” pledge. This retreat reveals Labour’s disconnect from reality, as they scramble to appease workers while clinging to the delusional climate cult net-zero agenda.
Climate cultists praying to the net zero gods to save them from the truth

Two of the North Sea’s drilling projects will hopefully go ahead as Ed Miliband is being forced to change his tune. The Energy Secretary is preparing to change the rules which were relied on by a court last autumn to block Equinor’s Rosebank oil field, off Shetland, and Shell’s Jackdaw gas field, off Aberdeen. Such a move would pave the way for the construction of the giant oil fields, and possibly open the door for more stalled hydrocarbon projects in British waters to be restarted. We sure hope so because all of the unnecessary hate towards hydrocarbons comes from a misunderstanding of CO2.

The net-zero scam, obsessed with measuring carbon emissions, is a pointless and dangerous exercise. CO2, the gas of life, isn’t a pollutant—it’s essential for photosynthesis, driving plant growth and greening the planet. Higher CO2 levels boost crop yields, vital for feeding a growing population. Yet, Labour’s U-turn is shadowed by the Supreme Court’s 2024 Finch ruling, mandating “scope 3” emissions assessments, which include CO2 released when oil and gas are burned. Projects like Rosebank, potentially emitting 1.5 billion tonnes of CO2, now face legal threats from green zealots like Greenpeace, who treat CO2 as poison. This obsession with emissions tracking is a bureaucratic farce, ignoring CO2’s benefits and punishing domestic production while we import energy at a much higher cost to the public.

What we have to pay attention to are the final outcomes of these new announcements. Will the oil and gas giants be allowed to do their job and extract the cheap reliable fuel for us to all use and then this actually brings down energy prices!? Given the track record of the UK government so far, probably not. That is what should happen though. So could these recent announcements be desperate moves by a government that sees the writing on the wall in terms of public approval and votes and is trying to clammer onto a hope of winning the next election? This seems more likely.

Be smart, remember the track record of labour and conservatives and how they have been in power for as long as any of us can remember and don’t fall for their tricks when it comes to voting day. Keep up the pressure in your conversations with everyone and we will continue to change the culture and maybe, just maybe, we will have this represented in our political leadership.

Because as we all know the entire climate cult narrative is unmoored from reality. CO2 isn’t driving catastrophic warming; it’s a trace gas enhancing life. The net-zero push, demanding we cripple our economy to reduce a non-pollutant, is a delusional fantasy peddled by net zero zealots and their rich friends who are indifferent to working-class struggles. Labour’s U-turn, is half-hearted—they’re still pandering to the emissions-counting charade. True progress would reject this scam entirely, embracing North Sea production without apology. We need more CO2, not less, we need cheap reliable energy to fuel a thriving ecosystem and economy. Labour’s failure to challenge the net-zero dogma shows they’re trapped in a backwards paradigm, sacrificing jobs and reason on the altar of a baseless climate crusade.

It is within the realms of possibility that Reform will actually be true to their word and reject net zero as their manifesto pledges highlight they will. We are living through a political turning point in the UK as for the first time in over a century we could have something outside the CON/LAB duopoly. Then if Reform seem unfit for purpose a true alternative could then have the grounds to flourish. Like the Heritage Party, The Freedom Alliance, or the Homeland Party. Anything is worth a shot other than what we’ve already had and it is imperitive we do not fall for the enemies agenda of trying to break our faith in politics and check out of the political system entirely with their inverse tyranny efforts. Yes, friends, it is still worth giving what we can to a political solution to this mess whilst continuing to become mini climate experts in our own lives and steering the course of conversations and culture.
